During the process of buying a French house a Structural Buildings Survey is not required. In many, indeed, most cases one is not recommended as often the results merely confirm what the eye can see.
However, there are situations where a survey by a qualified surveyor is recommended. This could be for the house sale or for a pre-renovation condition survey where structural changes are being made or extra loads are being placed on certain parts of the structure.
A Piece of Burgundy, along with our qualified builders, can usually advise on these problems but if you would prefer a survey to be undertaken we can organise it for you and then supply a translated copy of the report. We have worked with the English speaking surveyors in France and, whilst they are professional and well qualified, we have found that their less in-depth knowledge of French house construction often leads to incorrect diagnosis of problems and also to unessacary yet expensive works being undertaken.
For that reason we use fully qualified and insured French Surveying companies to report on your house. We accompany them to ensure that all the areas that concern you are investigated and to provide a translation of the surveyors impression or concerns.
| We remain independant of the surveyors, our builders and the house sales so we will always act in your best interests, giving impartial advise at all times. There are several types of Survey available to you, each giving a different level of information on the building. Please contact us to discuss them in details.

All of this information is given to you in a detailed report with concise costs and a budget for all of the works, which can be broken down into several phases, if required. This report can be e-mailed direct to you or posted to your home. It is completely independant of our other Renovation Services and has no obligation to use our services or our Artisans.
