A Piece of Burgundy operates under the same system of Devis and Factures as other French Companies and Artisans.
A Devis is a quote for works requested by the client. It outlines the work to be done, the price to be paid and the timescale it should be started and finished in.
Devis for our services, eg Design, Planning Applications will ussualy have just one page. This shows the service requested with our fee for it.
Devis for work being undertaken by Artisans will ussually have two pages. The first page will be resumé of the cost from the artisan, our fee (if any) and the VAT being charged by the artisan. There are also the payment terms and options.
The 2nd page will be a breakdown, in english of the artisans costs. This second page also includes the expected dates for the work to be started and finished. These dates may be provisional until the devis is accepted, see below.
If all of the details, the costs and scope of works are acceptable to you then you should sign the devis (both pages if applicable). At this point a 30% deposit is required to secure the works. This can be paid in Euros, £ Sterling or Dollars. (There may be a small fee for changing currencies). The signed devis can be scanned and e-mailed to us or posted. We recommend e-mail for reducing delays.
A signed devis is a legal contract between you and us for the works described by it. It binds you to the payments shown and us, with the artisan used, to undertaking the works for the price shown.
If there is a problem, or the cost is too high, or perhaps we have ommitted some work you have requested, please expalin the problem via your correspondance page and we will correct it and produce a 2nd revision devis. We are indipendant of any artisan we use and so can happily reduce their costs for you, either by negotiating the price, reducing the works or sourcing cheaper alternatives. Only when you are happy should you sign.
When the deposit has been received by A Piece of Burgundy the artisan will be given the go ahead. At this point the start and finish dates will be confirmed.
During the works, ussually at the half way point a second 30% payment will be requested. For small or short jobs this may not be required. If a payment is requested but arrives late then our and the artisans terms and conditions state that work may be stopped until it is received. We will always try to give an indication of when this payment will be due.
When the work is completed and verified by A Piece of Burgundy then a Facture will be produced. The facture is the final bill for the works undertaken. In 90% of cases this will be the same as the Devis. However, in some cases the facture may be higher than the devis. In all of these cases A Piece of Burgundy will expalin, often before the facture is produced, why this has happened. It is most often found in Builders devis, where the building has required extra work than was previewed.
If you would like to verify the works for yourself, then you should make arrangements quite quickly. We will provide photos throughout the work to help you ensure all has been done as you have requested. Late payment of the facture can prevent other works being undertaken for you and will also affect the guarentee given by the artisan. Normally payment will be due within 10 days of the facture being produced.
The 'Your Quotes' page on your Account Pages allows you to keep track of each of these stages. Also on this page is a option to 'View your Receipts' which shows a statement of each payment we have received from you.
