Winter in Burgundy can be a great time, lots of clear blue skies, snow and hot red wine to keep you warm.  However, it can be a very difficult time for heating and plumbing systems.

The risk of freezing for copper pipes, hot water tanks and even central heating pipes is very real with temperatures of around -20° C and the damage can be very upsetting.

A Piece of Burgundy have tailored some very helpful services specifically for this winter risk.

As a precaution we can undertake a Pre-Winter Service that inspects your plumbing and heating system, drains the house of both cold and hot systems and ensurees that any central heating boilers are set correctly to protect your home.

If things have gone wrong and you have burst pipes following our cold snaps we have a Winter Repair Service to make your home safe and repair the broken pipes using our artisan plumbers.  This service also reports back on the damage caused and liases with your insurance company to ensure the whole hoiuse is restored to its rightful condition with the minimum of fuss.

It can save you many hundreds of euros by preventing many trips to France to to clear up and deal with the aftermath.

How your house deals with the very low temperatures we have in and around Burgundy depends on how you use it and how well it has been renovated.  Insulation is a very important factor, as is the lagging you have around exposed pipes.  Through our large Renovation experiences we can offer you impartial advice on how to best protect your home from the risk of flooding and how to bring old systems up to scratch.
