TERMS & CONDITIONS For Account Holders

Please read the General Terms & Conditions of Subscription & Use below and then carefully choose the packages you wish to subscribe to and read all the associated
terms and conditions. For any queries or questions please use the Contact Us page for details of how to get in touch with us.
- General Terms & Conditions
- ~ Within these terms and conditions the terms 'we', 'us' or 'the company' refers to A Piece of Burgundy, a British company with offices in England and France.
- ~ An account is required to access the services of A Piece of Burgundy. You will be asked for your account number and password during all communications with us.
- ~ Services will only be provided during the period of subscription paid for. Renewals must be recieved 3 days before expiry of previous subscription to provide continuous cover.
- ~ All third party bills (contractors, utilities or others) must be paid by you, they are not included within the prices quoted by us.
- ~ We do not have any financial arrangements with french contractors, any that we recommend for you will be following previous work seen by us and satisfactory results only.
- ~ Payment Terms are shown for each package as below.
- Payment Terms
- ~ All Yearly Packages can be paid in full at the start of the Package or by 50% at start plus 50% at 6 months.
- ~ Design Packages can be paid in full at the start of the package or 50% at the start plus 50% at the completion of first draft plans.
- ~ Project Management can be paid in in full prior to the works commencing or by 40% at the start then 30% after 2 months followed by 30% at the completion of the works.
- ~ Design Packages can be paid in full at the start of the package or 50% at the start plus 50% at the completion of first draft plans.
- ~ Emergency Callout service must be paid within 5 days of A Piece of Burgundy arriving at the house to carry out the service.
- ~ An invoice will be sent for each payment, wether paid in stages as above or complete, and should be paid with 14 days of the invoice date.
- ~ The monthly payment scheme, if applicable to your package, must be paid by electronic transfer to our account on either the 5th, 12th or 19th of each month. You will receive a payment advice for the payments required prior to your first payment. The term for the payment is shown on your devis.
- ~ All overdue invoices will incur a 5% charge for each 10 days overdue and subsequent services from A Piece of Burgundy may be halted until payment is received.
- ~ Payment can be made by electronic transfer, Cheque or Bank Transfer. It should be made to our British account if paid in £ Sterling, or our French account if paid in Euros or Dollars. Bank details will be sent with the invoice. Cheques must be made payable to our Company Secretary; J A Bolton.

- Bill Paying Terms
We offer a service to pay bills on your behalf in Euros to any of the contractors used during the operation of your Account.&nbp; these payment are subject to the following conditions.
- ~ All Non Euro amounts must be paid to our £ Sterling account in England at the value stated on your Account Correspondance.
- ~ No exchange charges are added to this value, although in exceptional circumstances we reserve the right to add an exchange fee.
- ~ We will pay your contractor within 5 working days of the funds clearing to our £ Sterling account. This may be by Euro cheque or bank transfer.
- ~ We cannot be held responsible for action taken by the Contractor if your payment arrives at our £ Sterling account late
- ~ If action is taken against you by the contractor due to a failing on our part we will investigate and correct any problems within 3 working days.
- ~ If we cannot resolve the problem within 7 working days or the Contractor takes recovery action against you we will repay to your account the original amount transferred to us.
- Design
- ~ If adequate plans of your house are not available we recommend a house visit with you prior to designing any rooms.
- ~ When planning rooms we will take into account existing supplies of water, electricity and gas. We can work with changes to these but cannot be held liable if these future required changes are not included in your your plans.
- ~ Whole house design is restricted to existing buildings and cannot include complete new build. Extensions to existing buildings can be included following our consultation with contractors.
- ~ The usual time scale for a design on an average size house should be around 4 weeks.
- ~ We reserve the right to refuse certain requests if the structure of the building or logitics of drainage make such requests untenable.
- ~
- Project Management
- ~ Prices shown for Project Management are guides only, as jobs vary widely we require information on times scales, number of contractors, plans and permissions before arriving at a price.
- ~We price this service via our standard pricing structure depending on number of rooms, number of bedrooms, bathrooms and staircases. We price on the plans supplied for the finished works.
- ~ We will agree with you the plans, schedules and type of finish you require and take all reasonable efforts to manage the contractors until such results are given.
- ~ We cannot be held liable for failures on the part of contractors, problems with payment of contractors or unforeseen problems with the building.
- ~ The price of the Project Management Service does not include the contractors costs. All third party bills must be paid by you. You can use our Bill Paying Service if required.
- ~ Most contractors operate a staged payment system. This often requires a 40% deposit before starting, then two payments of 30% at halfway point and finish.
- ~ Quotes given by contactors may change if your plans or requirements change. We and they may increase or decrease costs at any time if the agreed plans change during the works.
- Planning Applications
- ~ The service fee needs to be paid at commencement or upon completion of the plans & 3D views.
- ~ We will prepare your permis de construire in accordance with normal procedures requested by the 'cerfa', DDE, and Architect de la France.
- ~ You must supply all the documents requested by us before we can complete your application. These may be sent by e-mail or post. We do not recomend fax.
- ~ Any alterations after the applications have been finalised will be charged an additional fee of 59€ which needs to be paid before the alterations are added to the application.
- ~ Any contact with your mayor will be non-contractural but will be used in the application as guidance. All discussions with the mayor will be relayed to you.
- ~ All drawings and completed forms are supplied in good faith, based on the information you supply and our experience of such applications. We cannot be held responsible for ommisions, delays or failures on our part.
- ~ We cannot guarentee the acceptance of the application by DDE or any other interested party. We will use our experience and knowledge to advise on the best options for acceptance of your application.
- Translation
- ~ We cannot accept liability for loss of documents in the postage system
- ~ We will translate documents within 3 days of receipt at our office unless we specify a different period
- ~ We take great care to translate documents correctly but cannot be held responsible for loss, grievance or dispute if incorrect
- ~ Emergency response will be given within 1 day of receipt of documents. We cannot accept liability if loss or grievance occurs due to varying time scales.
- Telephone Assistance
- ~ Telephone Assistance requires correctly supplied names and telephone numbers. We cannot be held responsible for any actions taken by you following our contact on your behalf.
- ~ We cannot be held responsible for delays, loss or grievance if french organisations or persons refuse to speak with us. You may need to give written/ verbal authority to them prior to our call.
- Maintenance Services
- ~ Gardens will be left in good order following the work will feel necessary to keep them tidy for you. No liability accepted for changes between visits.
- ~ House requires key keeping under the terms as above (Read).
